A flagship massage chair runs $9,000 to $14,000 new. That number stops most buyers cold, and it should. But the chair that costs $9,999 on our floor also exists as a certified pre-owned unit for $3,999, with the same mechanism, the same warranty backing, and a 60-day window to return it if it disappoints. This guide explains exactly what "certified pre-owned" means at Mana Massage Chairs, how grading works, and where the savings come from.
Where certified pre-owned chairs come from
These are not chairs that spent five years in someone's living room. Most certified pre-owned (CPO) units fall into three buckets: showroom models that customers tried in a store, buyer's-remorse returns that went back within the return window, and open-box units that were never sat in at all. The manufacturer takes them back, inspects them, grades them, and clears them for resale at a steep discount.
The 37-point inspection
Before a CPO chair ships, factory-trained technicians at Kyota or Infinity run it through a 37-point inspection covering the roller mechanism, airbags, heat, recline motors, and electronics. A chair only earns certification in perfect working order. The inspection is what separates a CPO chair from a used chair on a classifieds site: someone who builds these machines verified this specific unit before it reached you.
Grade A vs. Grade B
Grade A means perfect working order with no major cosmetic flaws. Many Grade A units were returns from buyers who changed their mind; some were never used.
Grade B means the same perfect working order with minor cosmetic flaws, a scuff or a scratch that changes nothing about the massage. You give up showroom looks and keep every feature, at a price below Grade A.
Either way, ask us what the cosmetic condition of the current unit looks like. Call or text 806-547-1998 and we will send photos of the exact chair before you commit.
What the savings look like in real numbers
Current pricing on our CPO lineup against the same chair new:
- Kyota Yutaka M898 CPO Grade A: $3,999, against $9,999 new. That is 60% off Kyota's flagship 4D chair.
- Infinity Evolution CPO Grade A: $3,499, and Grade B at $2,999, against $10,999 new.
- Kyota Kokoro M888 CPO Grade A: $3,999, with Grade B at $3,499. The Kokoro runs Kyota's 4D mechanism on a J-track, which pairs full-spine coverage with glute reach.
- Kyota Kenko M673 CPO Grade A: $1,999. The lowest-priced certified Kyota we carry.
Browse the full lineup on our Certified Pre-Owned collection page. Inventory moves one unit at a time, so if a grade or color is missing, call 806-547-1998 and we will tell you what is inbound.
What you keep when you buy CPO
Three things usually surprise people. First, the warranty: CPO chairs ship backed by warranty, registered to you. Second, the guarantee: every chair we sell, new or CPO, carries our 60-day money-back guarantee. Sit in it for two months; if it is not the right chair, it goes back. Third, shipping is free and insured, the same as a new unit.
Who should buy CPO, and who should not
Buy CPO if the massage matters more to you than the unboxing. A Grade B Evolution at $2,999 massages identically to the $10,999 unit beside it. Skip CPO if a visible scuff would bother you every time you walk past the chair, or if you want to pick from every color a model offers; CPO stock is whatever came back, so selection is thinner than new.
Questions before you buy?
Call or text 806-547-1998. We will send photos of the exact unit, measure doorway clearance against the chair's shipping dimensions, and tell you honestly whether the new or CPO unit is the better buy for your budget.
